Hidden above the drunken and busy bars of Wyndham Street is a little New Orleans escape known as Restoration. Upon entering the cozy venue, you instantly notice the quirky and welcoming design utilising materials salvaged from houses destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The attention to detail is evident in everything, down to each plate and bar stool. They all tell a story. Their menu is full of creole favourites and doesn't overwhelm with too much choice. We started with the gumbo which is a must eat if you love your food with a bit of spice. I also highly recommend their juicy fried chicken, crispy pork belly bites, and for a carnivore like myself the M9 Australian Bone in Rib Eye stole the show. I couldn't get enough. We finished the meal with baked bananas and ice cream which made for a perfect end to a satisfying and mouthwatering meal. I can't wait to return and try more of the menu as I did not have one bad dish out of the many we sampled. The perfect spot for sharing food and laughter with friends. If you enjoy delicious soul food and a welcoming environment, Restoration, full of heart and personality, is the place to be.
